The human will for survival has throughout history driven men and woman to commit all kinds of crazy and amazing feats in order to survive. People’s unwavering determination to live has allowed them to overcome being lost at sea, stranded in frigid forest or unforgiving jungles. Some faced with life or death decisions have gone to the extreme of literally taking a bite out of their dead friends leg.
These hard economic times have also put many people into survival mode. We all know Wall Street was given a gargantuan bailout but Main Street was left to fend for itself against the relentless economic elements. One Portland Oregon man pushed to his breaking point and facing the brink of extinction turned himself into police yesterday. The man seemingly desperate for incarceration has given up battling high unemployment, lower wages, record level foreclosures, rising living cost, and overwhelming feeling of lost of wealth for government ran living arrangements. The 64 year was taking into custody after police found him outside of a FedEx Kinkos store where he had handed an apologetic robbery note to an employee there. The employee stated that the note read “This is a robbery, I’ll wait outside for police, sorry.” The saddest part of this story is the man may not get his bailout for three hots and a cot because he didn’t actually commit the robbery
